A Visit from Gladys

The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about birds this week and have produced some beautiful information books. This morning we had a visit from a chicken called Gladys (she belongs to Mrs Card!). The children listened to facts about Gladys, stroked her and then wrote amazing information texts about chickens.
As they are now chicken experts, please do ask them what they found out. We have been inspired to go bird watching next week.  If they have any children’s binoculars then please let them bring them in.  If you would like to send in their wellies for the week, it could save them getting too muddy in the Conservation Area.  If they don’t have any, don’t worry we will just try and keep them on the paths!   They are very excited about which different species of birds they might see and have been learning about robins, blackbirds, seagulls, crows, jackdaws, woodpeckers and sparrows.

Our PE homework for the next few weeks is different for each class.  If your child is in 1K they should pretend to be a cheeky monkey, balance on their bottom and try to pick things up with their feet. They might even twirl them around their legs!

For 1CR they should practise lots of different types of jumping, remembering to land on two feet and bend their knees.
We won’t be giving out spellings on Wednesday and remember that Friday is an INSET day.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a very relaxing and happy half term holiday.  Our topic of exploration will continue when we come back, but we will be boldly going where no man has gone before -the final frontier…  outer space!
