Easter is here!

Last week we had a great day learning about and experiencing the eclipse.  The children watched it on the interactive whiteboard; made shadow puppets and investigated how light travels using torches and mirrors.  They really enjoyed the experience and their enthusiasm was in no way diminished by the cloudy weather!

We have had a super final week of our exploration work spending time in the conservation area.  The children absolutely loved it and we were so lucky to have Sarah Webb lead the activities. They were brilliant and she was brilliant!

We have not given out any spellings this week and will start again the first week back.  The children will have brought home a book to read so please keep reading with your child, if you get the chance.

Next term we will be doing work based around the question, “What makes a home?”  We will be looking at mini beasts and where they live, along with the bigger question of how we can be safe in our own homes.

We hope you all have a very happy and relaxing break and look forward to hearing all about it when the children come back after Easter.

Space and Beyond

The children have really enjoyed learning about our Solar System and it was great fun on World Book Day to spend the day working on the book, The Man on the Moon.  We made pictures of constellations, sequenced the story, used the role play area to act out the story and made colourful shape rockets.  The children looked fantastic in their costumes and we had a whole school assembly in the afternoon to celebrate the day and the ideas behind it.

On Friday, it is Comic Relief day when the children are invited to come into school having done something ‘funny’ to their faces.  They might be wearing face paints or funny glasses.  Donations will handed in to the office and given to Comic Relief.  We will have our cameras at the ready.
To end our theme of explorers and adventures, we have asked Sarah Webb if she could organize a session in the Conservation area for each of the two year one classes.  They will be having their very own morning of exploration and fun. 1K will go on Tuesday 24th March and 1CR will be going on Wednesday 25th March. Your child will need to bring in old, warm, waterproof clothes  and wellington boots on the day their class is going.
